Prayers for Parents

Prayer for Mothers

O almighty and eternal God, Lord of both the living and the dead, Your tender mercy embraces all men foreknown to be Yours by faith and a good life. Through the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary our Mother, and of all the saints, grant Your merciful pardon to all mothers for whom we pray, whether they still are living in this world or have departed from this flesh into the world to come. Especially, dear Lord, grant the requests I now make of You for my own beloved mother.

Prayers for Children

Parents' Prayer for Children

O Heavenly Father, I commend my children unto Thee. Be Thou their God and Father, and mercifully supply whatever is wanting in me through frailty or negligence. Strengthen them to overcome the corruptions of the world, to resist all solicitations to evil, whether from within or without, and deliver them from the secret snares of the enemy.

Pour Thy grace into their hearts, and confirm and multiply in them the gifts of Thy Holy Spirit, that they may daily grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ; and so, faithfully serving Thee here, may come to rejoice in Thy presence hereafter. Amen.

Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station. At each station, the individual recalls and meditates on a specific event from Christ's last day. Specific prayers are recited, then the individual moves to the next station until all 14 are complete.

The Rosary

The Rosary is a Scripture-based prayer summarizing the great mysteries of the Catholic faith. According to Catholic tradition, the Rosary was instituted by the Blessed Virgin Mary in the 13th century when she is said to have appeared to St. Dominic and given him a Rosary. The repetition of the prayers of the Rosary is meant to lead one into contemplative prayer related to each mystery. The Rosary is ever new because the situations and mysteries we are pondering have an unlimited number of dimensions to consider.
