Dear Parishioners,
I spoke about the saints in my bulletin letter last week, referencing specifically St. Mary Magdalene (July 22) and St. James (July 25). Well, today, July 31st, is the feast day of another monumental saint, and one to whom I also owe a great deal: Saint Ignatius of Loyola.
Dear Parishioners,
One of these days when I sit down with you personally over perhaps an adult beverage and a cigar, you’ll tell me which saint you resonate with the most. Don’t worry, if no saint immediately comes to mind, we can still get together for that libation. Though I might suggest you take up one of the saints we’ve had, or will have, recently.
Dear Parishioners,
Ah, Martha and Mary. The classic scene in the Gospel: Martha busy in the kitchen while Mary sits at the feet of Jesus. Some of us smile at this passage; some of us cringe.

In addition to being the pastor of Saint Paul of the Cross Parish, he serves as a canon lawyer for the Archdiocese, a dean in Vicariate II, and a professor of canon law and spiritual director at Mundelein Seminary. He is also one of the featured Mercy Home Sunday Mass celebrants, airing Sundays at 9:30am on WGN.
