The parish priest and staff at St. Paul of the Cross Church are committed to making a welcoming place for you and your family to worship.

St. Paul of the Cross is a vibrant Catholic Community located North of Chicago. We have two worship spaces that are used on weekends - the upper church & Holy Family Chapel.

The Upper Church

The setting in the upper church is traditional with wooden pews, padded kneelers and marble statues. A renovation of the Upper Church took place in 2015 and included decorative painting of the entire interior, a new sound system and new lights. In 2017 the installation of a heritage pipe organ, Casavant Opus 1279, was completed.

Holy Family Chapel

The setting in Holy Family Chapel is more intimate and informal with padded chairs and no kneelers. A renovation of Holy Family Chapel took place in 2015 which included custom-made stained glass windows of the Stations of the Cross. Daprato Rigali Studios constructed a new altar with a marble floor and a stained glass window depicting the Holy Family as a backdrop. Music in Holy Family Chapel is often more contemporary and will sometimes include percussion and electric guitar.

If you are interested in joining St. Paul of the Cross please attend one of our New Parishioner Registration Sundays on the first Sunday of each month from 8:30 a.m. until Noon in the Parish Life Center.

Becoming Catholic

If you would like more information on becoming catholic please contact the parish office about our Sojourner Program. The Sojourner Program is for adults who would like to explore becoming Catholic, or who would like to receive Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. Please call (847) 825-7605 for more information, or contact Deacon Bob Bulger.

What  If I am Not Catholic

First, we want you to know you are welcome. Feel free to come in and get closer to God. If you come to a liturgical service, you may feel uncomfortable not understanding the liturgy. That is understandable and please do not let that stop you. There are missals in the seats which can help you to follow along.

Please know that our services are deeply rooted in biblical teachings. We believe Christ is present in the Eucharist as He told us in Scripture: John 6: 30 – 66; 1 Cor 10: 16; 1 Cor 11: 27 – 29. If the red candle on the altar is lit, Christ is present in the tabernacle on the Altar.

Bishop Fulton Sheen once said “There are not a hundred people in America who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions of people who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church – which is of course, quit a different thing!”

All we ask is that you be respectful of our place of Worship. If you have questions about the Catholic Faith, call the rectory at (847) 825-7605 and ask to talk with a Priest.

What  If I Have Not Gone to Church in  While?

Welcome Back! We have missed you. Know that Christ has never stopped loving you and, as in the parable of the prodigal son, there will be much celebrating in heaven upon your return. If you are thinking of returning, the best way is often to pray on it. Come to Church or our Eucharistic Adoration Chapel and spend some time talking with God. Ash Him if it is time for you to come back.  Follow this link to learn more Catholics Come Home
