Apostolate of Women Update

The Apostolate of Women, the women’s group of St. Paul of the Cross, is pleased to share several updates following the October meetings held by the Spiritual, Service, and Social Pillars

SPIRITUAL PILLAR UPDATE

The Spiritual Pillar held its first meeting October 18th to discuss ideas on how to share and support one another in faith. The AOW Honor Guard, a long-standing tradition, will continue under the guidance of the Spiritual Pillar. This was previously led by Alice Zimmermann, long-time member of the St. Thomas Aquinas guild, who recently passed away. To honor Alice’s faith and service, we will see that this remarkable tradition carries on. The Honor Guard consists of women volunteers who attend an AOW member’s funeral service at St. Paul of the Cross. All members are asked to consider volunteering when the need arises.

Women’s Retreat (need event lead)

Architectural Tour of Chicagoland Churches, sponsored by the St. Valentine guild

Other ideas discussed: a weekly AOW mass, prayerful meditation, prayer circle with prayer cards, rosary lessons, faith through music, and a dedicated AOW Adoration hour. SERVICE PILLAR UPDATE

The first Service Pillar meeting was held October 11th. The next meeting is at 7:30 pm on November 29th in Duffin Hall. So many women are excited to come together to build fellowship and help others in need. We have leaders planning events with Uncle Pete’s Ministry, Feed My Starving Children, Catholic Charities, and the Ronald McDonald House. We still have opportunities and are looking for women to donate two to three hours of time to organize a service event with organizations like Timothy’s Ministry, Misericordia, Heather’s House, and others. SOCIAL PILLAR UPDATE

The Social Pillar meeting was held October 25th, and we have many fun activities planned to bring people together.
