May 13th Candlelight Rosary

On May 13th, the Respect Life Committee hosted a Candlelight Rosary honoring Mary in the month dedicated to her, as well as commemorating the Feast of the Ascension and the anniversary of the first apparition of the Blessed Mother to the children in Fatima on May 13, 1917.

This was the last Rosary for Fr. Britto to be at before his retirement and for Fr. Peter before he leaves for his new assignment. It also marked the 5-year anniversary of the Candlelight Rosary at St. Paul of the Cross. Fr. Britto led the opening decade of the first Candlelight Rosary in May of 2016 and very fittingly, he led the final decade of this past one.

The evening was an opportunity to acknowledge the special contributions Fr. Britto and Fr. Peter have made in supporting pro-life initiatives at St. Paul of the Cross.

Fr. Peter has been a joyful and enthusiastic ally and advisor of the Respect Life Committee. He provided a great deal of behind the scenes support, selflessly and tirelessly giving himself to the cause with humility and grace.

Fr. Britto has been an unwavering champion of life issues. His support and guidance laid the foundation for new initiatives that helped to build a culture of life at St. Paul of the Cross. His wisdom and counsel were valued and appreciated.

Both of these men have a special devotion to our Blessed Mother and have honored her role in the Church in loving and prayerful ways. May Mary watch over them in the next phases of their faith journeys and may God bless them for upholding the sanctity of the precious gift of life.
