RCIA Penitential Rite

Our RCIA Candidates Celebrate a Penitential Rite

On Saturday February 27th, our RCIA Candidates celebrated a Penitential Rite at the 4:30pm Mass. They were introduced to the parish by Fr. Jim Baraniak who presided at that Mass. The whole congregation prayed over them as did Fr. Jim who asked God to strengthen them as they enter the final period of preparation before they receive the Sacraments of Initiation and come into full communion of the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.

This year we have two Catechumens (those who are not yet baptized) and four Candidates who are preparing to come into full communion of the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. We also have an adult Catholic who is preparing to be confirmed at the Easter Vigil.

Please keep our Catechumens, Candidates, and our adult Confirmandi in your prayers as they journey through the intense, final preparation period leading up to the Easter Vigil.

Thank you, and God Bless!

Beshar Bahjat, RCIA Director

RCIA is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process for adults who want to become Catholic and to be fully initiated in the faith. The Catechumens (those who have not been baptized) and the Candidates (those who were baptized in different Christian denominations) are joined by Catholics who have not completed receiving the Sacraments, to go through months of preparation before they can receive the Sacraments and become fully initiated Catholics at the Easter Vigil. If you are interested in the program, or know someone who wants to be a fully initiated Catholic, please send an email to
