Corinthians Bible Study

Eight Week Bible study by Jeff Cavins

Wednesdays 7 - 9 p.m. beginnig January 30   -  OR  -   Thursdays 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. beginning January 31

The conflicts of the early Christians in Corinth are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Christians. With divisions, immorality, persecution, and other trials of the faithful, the message of St. Paul to the Corinthians is a much needed message for our own times. First Corinthians explores the key elements that the apostle Paul introduced to a new and growing Church. St. Paul taught the Corinthians about the nature of grace and the Church as the Body of Christ. In addition, he introduced the Corinthian Christians to the most powerful gift of all, the Eucharist, which, along with Christian virtue, leads to a life of joy. The conflicts of the early Christians in Corinth are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Christians. Weekly Study Sequence:

Home preparation - Read the Bible and answer the homework questions in the Study Set, which are not a test but a way to learn from within the heart of the Church.  Not everyone will find every answer.

Small group discussion - Small group discussion begins each class session. Participants share what they have learned and glean from others’ insights to get a fuller understanding of the passages they have read, followed with answers provided to the Study Set questions as an aid.

DVD Lecture - The video presentation follows the discussion for the fullness of what can be learned.
