Permanent Diaconate

Permanent Deacons are ordained clergy of the Catholic Church. They have three main functions within the Church – Liturgy,

The Word and Service to Charity. Deacons can baptize and witness Catholic Marriages. Deacons preach the Gospel and give homilies.

Deacons serve in many roles as servants of God to the poor, hungry and homeless. Deacons cannot Consecrate the Host or hear confessions.
