Inclusion Ministry

"For my home shall be a house of prayer for all people." (Isaiah 56:6)

Mission Statement: We focus on the talents and abilities of all people who wish to enter our "open doors." We will provide support and advocacy to all those who, because they are aging, ailing, or disabled, are isolated from our parish community. We as a ministry will have insight and support for our sisters and brothers with special needs.

In 1996, Joseph Cardinal Bernadin called for all parishes in the Chicago Archdiocese to make a concerted effort to include parishioners with disabilities into all aspects of parish life. The goal of this ministry is to create congregations where parishioners of all abilities and their families can participate in worship, ministry, study and fellowship.

"I ask that you continue in your efforts to make ours a more welcoming and participatory church for everyone". Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.

One in five Americans have a disability but many houses of worship are not equipped to include the disabled. We need to be aware of people with physical, sensory, mental or emotional differences. We strive at St. Paul of the Cross to make all aspects of our parish community both accessible and inclusive.

St. Paul of the Cross Mission Statement: As children of God, living in a Catholic community of faith, we are united by the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Aware that all we have is gift and grace from our Heavenly Father, we strive to give of our time, talent and treasure to build His kingdom on earth. We live this mission, challenged by the Word, nurtured by the Sacraments, and enlivened by the Spirit, to serve our brothers and sisters in peace, justice and dignity. All are welcome on this journey.
