Apostolate of Catholic Women

About AOW
The Apostolate of Women, which originated in 1914, is an organization that provides spiritual, social, and service opportunities for all women of the parish. It is composed of over 700 guild and non-guild members and 17 active guilds.

Spiritual
Our spiritual activities include Masses and Evenings/Mornings of Reflection. We also provide an Honor Guard at funeral masses for deceased members (past and present) of the AOW, with the approval of the families.

Social
Social activities include the annual Arts and Crafts Bazaar in November, the St. Nicholas Party for children in December, the Spring Luncheon, Christmas Parties, Auctions, and several educational programs throughout the year.

Service
Service projects vary. The St. Nicholas Party generates donations of presents for the Marillac House, Coordinates Blood Drives, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are supported both spiritually and financially, Christmas hams for our sister parish, St. Benedict the African, and when need arises we will help those who are less fortunate in the community the surrounding area. We are also responsible for cleaning and decorating the Sanctuary weekly.

Meetings
The AOW hosts three business meetings/programs during the year: Fall, Winter and Spring. We welcome all women of the parish to join us. For scheduled AOW meeting times, dates and events, please refer to the weekly parish bulletins or the AOW newsletter. You may also call any member of the Executive Board.

Finances
Money collected from dues and fundraisers is used to assist in the maintenance of the parish. We are also responsible for the cost of replacing altar linens and vestments, and contribute $1,000 annually toward Christmas and Easter flowers for the altar.

St. Paul of the Cross Mission Statement: As children of God, living in a Catholic community of faith, we are united by the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Aware that all we have is gift and grace from our Heavenly Father, we strive to give of our time, talent and treasure to build His kingdom on earth. We live this mission, challenged by the Word, nurtured by the Sacraments, and enlivened by the Spirit, to serve our brothers and sisters in peace, justice and dignity. All are welcome on this journey.
