This week my column is going to be a simple “Thank You” note. I want to express my sincere gratitude to you for being immensely generous to the people of Ginjee. For our Lenten Sacrifice I invited the parish to adopt the work of Fr Val who dedicates his life to uplift the “Untouchables” of South India. Along with Sr Alphonse, he has been working for the last ten years making them aware of their basic human dignity. It is hard work and he has few sources of funding to rely upon.
About seven years ago I got to know him and ever since tried to help him through the goodness of my friends here in the US. Now you have all come through for him and for his people. We sent Fr Val a check for over $62,000 in June and he has already begun the construction of the Community Center. In this bulletin we are publishing Fr Val’s letter as well as pictures that show us the steady progress of the building construction.
My dream is to take a group from our parish to Ginjee when the center is completed. Your contributions, big or small, have changed lives significantly thousands of miles away. God will bless you abundantly for your generosity because what we do for His poor, we do for Him!
I am proud to be the pastor of such a generous parish.
